Connectivity Status

Overview

This tab shows gauges for the overall connectivity status of devices and SkySpark points. The large numbers shown in the gauges are the totals, and the percentages show how many devices/points are ok vs faulted. Below the gauges are two tables showing active issues:

Device Problems: Devices with ongoing issues, listed by building name unless no building key has been associated with the device in SQL. This can be a device disconnected for more than 24 hours (the info sync checking devices happens periodically multiple times per day) or a device with a system clock off by more than 10 minutes.
SkySpark Project Problems: SkySpark projects with ongoing issues. This can be a node down for a disconnected device, more than 10% faulted points, or any other issues found with the project.

SkySpark Projects are individual instances of a SkySpark installation. With our usage of edge devices, these are often but not always buildings. Some notable exceptions are:

NKCSD uses an on-site VM for the entire district, with a single SkySpark installation.

This means a single project covering all buildings.

PCSD High School uses two edge devices to cover the addition, due to the unusual network setup of the BAS with the HVAC equipment inaccessible from the main district IT infrastructure.

This means two projects for that building, as well as the original building on the single project covering most of the rest of the district.

Devices are identified by icon in this overview table. On the Edge Devices and eGauge Meters tabs the device type is apparent, but since all are aggregated here an icon denotes whether they are:

an edge device
a meter
unknown

Edge Devices

This tab has a table of all edge devices by building name (if a building key is associated with the device in SQL) along with:

Clock Error: The discrepancy between the device's system clock and the internal clock of the SQL server. The SQL server's time is taken as a standard as this is synced/maintained by AWS.
Last Updated: The time since the last time the device was polled for information. This happens a few times a day but not constantly, so a delay here isn't seen as an issue unless it exceeds a full day.
IP: The IP address of the local ethernet adapter for the device. This is the device's local IP and not the NeoRouter IP.

Issues that should be investigated are highlighted in red, such as if the device's info has not been updated in over 24 hours, or the clock is off by more than 10 minutes

eGauge Meters

This tab has the same layout and functionality as the Edge Devices tab, but shows info for eGauge meters rather than SkySpark edge devices.

SkySpark

This tab graphs the connectivity status of the points under each SkySpark project. The points are divided into 3 categories:

Live Points: These points have current values tied to a connector, and are showing a status of "ok" in SkySpark.
Faulted Points: These points have current values, but are showing a faulted status in SkySpark. This could be a fault at the point, connector, or some other fault; whatever the error faulted points should be counted here.
Inactive Points: These are points that do not fit into the other categories, likely points without a current value. These are often computed points, but could also include other things such as instances where a live BACnet point was unavailable so a trend is periodically synced. In any case, with no live connection they don't have any applicable connectivity status.

The bars are scaled as a percentage of the total width, and projects are sorted with the highest fault percentage at the top. Projects with the same percent of points faulted are sorted by most to least live points.

Misc. Info:

Tables can be sorted by column, by clicking on the column header. Text columns (including IP addresses) are sorted alphabetically; numerical columns (including time spans and dates) are sorted numerically.
Navigating to a tab redraws the contents of that tab and resets sorting to default. Some tables default to multiple sorting criteria for convenience, for example the SkySpark problems on the Overview tab sort more important faults first, followed by point error percent. if the table has been manually sorted, navigating to another tab and back to the Overview tab will restore this default sorting
Data is loaded when the page loads; navigating tabs just displays the retrieved data. This means that the long load time only happens once, when the page loads. This means that flipping between tabs, e.g. to restore sorting, should be relatively quick.
